Digital Product Draft Rule Available Online Today

A preliminary draft rule affecting the taxation of digital products is now available on the Department of Revenue’s web site in advance of two stakeholder meetings scheduled for July 14 and 15.  The Department will be soliciting input on the preliminary draft rule at those meetings.  Based on the input the Department receives at the meetings, it will propose a rule to implement Engrossed Substitute House Bill 2075.  HB 2075 affects the taxation of many digital products, including downloaded music, streaming video, online video games and many online services, such as online legal research services.

The preliminary draft rule will be available here. Feedback on the preliminary draft rule also can be provided through this link.
