Q:  My husband and I are trying to figure out a budget for our retirement for property tax on a single-family home in several different areas within Washington. How would I figure this on a per thousand basis per year?

A:  You can find each county's property tax rates in the Department of Revenue's publication Property Tax Statistics. Table 28 gives you each average county tax rate, which can vary within the county. The state average tax rate is $11.32 per thousand, which varies slightly between the 39 counties.
