Q:  If I buy an item over the Internet or by catalog, from a company not based in Washington, do I pay sales tax based on where I live or based on where the company does business?

A:

When you buy an item over the internet or by catalog from a company based outside of Washington, but are billed Washington sales tax, the tax rate is based on your shipping address.  If you have it delivered to your home, then your home address will determine the sales tax rate.
