Q:
What are the reporting requirements for a business which has deferred taxes under the rural county sales/use tax deferral programs?
A:
There is a requirement that the taxpayer report annually to the department whether qualified activity is being maintained at the site of the investment project. This reporting takes place for the year in which the investment project is certified as operationally complete, and for seven additional calendar years. The report must be filed electronically by April 30 each year. Once use and employment requirements have been met, the deferred tax will be waived by the department.
