City of Medina joins state licensing partnership to streamline local commerce

OLYMPIA, Wash. – March 26, 2026 - The Department of Revenue’s Business Licensing Service (BLS) today welcomes the city of Medina to its local government licensing support system.

BLS is the state’s premier licensing one-stop solution that connects businesses to hundreds of state registrations, such as liquor licenses and teen worker permits. Medina joins the same system serving more than 200 cities and towns throughout Washington.

This partnership is an essential upgrade for mobile professionals, particularly construction and landscaping contractors working in Medina on residential projects. BLS empowers these businesses to quickly add a non-resident municipal license to their existing state tax account through a centralized online portal.

Medina’s neighboring cities of Kirkland, Clyde Hill, and Newcastle also use this system for local license administration.

Revenue administers nearly 60 categories of taxes that help fund vital public services. It also oversees programs that return money to the public, including the Working Families Tax Credit and Unclaimed Property.
