Federal Way boosts business with licensing partnership

State’s 10th largest city joins neighbors in ‘one-stop shop’ for licensing

OLYMPIA, WASH. – Oct. 3, 2019 – The Department of Revenue’s Business Licensing Service (BLS) welcomes Federal Way, Washington’s 10th largest city, to its combined licensing partnership.

Partnering with BLS helps Federal Way businesses with the service that allows them to register for and renew state and local licenses in one convenient process.

“We know the service will be popular with businesses that want to save time and effort when they use it for state licensing,” said Adé Ariwoola, city finance director. “We’re glad to add this streamlined process for the nearly 5,000 businesses working here in Federal Way every day.”

Federal Way joins neighbors SeaTac, Fife, and more than 50 other Puget Sound communities in adding the service. BLS provides its services free to more than 100 participating Washington cities.

“The easy-to-use online system will help businesses quickly apply for and renew their required licenses in one annual process,” Ariwoola said. “They like getting their tasks done all at once.”

More information about the service is at bls.dor.wa.gov.
