Business Licensing Service links Ferndale to Whatcom County cities

OLYMPIA, Wash. – June 25, 2020 – The Department of Revenue’s Business Licensing Service (BLS) today welcomes the Whatcom County city of Ferndale as a local partner.

With BLS, businesses use online application and renewal processes to save time and trips to city hall. Businesses access the same secure portal to add a local license, such as a Ferndale General Business License, as they do to report state taxes.

Ferndale, about 15 miles south of the Peace Arch border crossing to Canada, joins nearby Bellingham and Blaine in the same service used by more than 130 Washington state communities. Neighboring city Lynden will join the BLS system in July. Nearly 20,000 Whatcom County businesses have a local license issued by BLS.

BLS supports about 600 different types of regulatory licenses. It is a free service to public agencies and local governments.

A list of partner cities is listed on the city license endorsements page.
