Cigarette Ignition Propensity Fire Safe Cigarette Certificate

Purpose

To certify that a cigarette variety has been tested and meets the fire safety standard as having reduced ignition propensity. Applies to cigarette manufacturers selling cigarette brands in Washington State.

How to submit

Application submitted with fees on forms provided by the State Fire Marshal Office.

Processing time

No more than 10 business days.

Fees

$250 - Each cigarette style being certified (three-year certification)

License renewals

Valid for three years.

Fire Sprinkler Contractor License and Certificate of Competency Holder

Purpose

To allow companies to design, install, test, inspect and maintain fire protection sprinkler systems in Washington State.

How to submit

Must be a registered contractor with the Department of Labor and Industries. In order for a contractor to obtain a license, they must employ a certificate of competency holder at the level of licensure sought. If the employee has not been issued a certificate of competency but meets the qualifications, the application for the certificate holder needs to be submitted at the same time.

Processing time

Five to 30 days
Contingent upon qualifying the required employ for certification through testing or national credentialling.

Fees

One Time Fees:

  • $100 - Application fee for Licenses
  • $100 - Application for Certificate Holder

Annual License Fee:

  • $125 - Level 1
  • $375 - Level 2
  • $1,500 - Level 3
  • $1,500 - Level U
  • $1,000 - Level I&T

$100 - Annual Certificate Holders Fee (Levels 1, 2, 3, U, and ITT)

License renewals

The license is valid for one calendar year and must be renewed prior to Jan. 1 of year to be licensed.

Fire Sprinkler Fitters

Purpose

To allow individual to install and repair fire sprinkler system working for licensed fire sprinkler contractors.

How to submit

Complete the application evidencing hours of experience. 4,000 for residential and 8,000 for journey. Must pass an examination.

Processing time

2 to 10 working days depending on evidencing qualification and passing exam.

Fees

One time fees:
$100 Application fee for all levels
$200 Biennial certification fee for residential and journey levels

License renewals

Biennial certification for trainee, residential, and journey levels. Based on even years.

Retail Fireworks Stand License

Purpose

To allow a retailer to purchase consumer fireworks, legal in the State of Washington, for retail sale.

How to submit

Applications submitted with fee on forms provided by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Processing time

RCW requires these to be completed within 15 days.

Fees

$40 - Fireworks Stand License

License renewals

The license is valid for one year from the date of issue and expires on Jan. 31 of the subsequent year. Application period from Jan. 1 to May 1 for annual sales commencing on Jun. 28 and on Dec. 27, or no later than Nov. 1 for sales commencing only on Dec. 27.

State Fireworks General Public Display License

Purpose

To allow a public display of fireworks in Washington State.

How to submit

Applications submitted with fee on forms provided by the State Fire Marshal Office.

Processing time

General Display License Five to 10 days
Pyrotechnic Operator - Dependent upon completing the examination process

Fees

$50 - General Display License
$10 - Pyrotechnic Operator License

License renewals

The license is valid for one year from date of issue and expires on Jan. 31 of the subsequent year.

State Fireworks Importer, Manufacturer, and/or Wholesaler License

Purpose

To allow the sale of fireworks at wholesale, bring fireworks into the State of Washington or manufacture fireworks. Applies to firework Wholesalers, Importers and/or Manufacturers.

How to submit

Applications submitted with fee on forms provided by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Processing time

RCW requires these to be completed within 90 days from Feb. 1.

Fees

Annual licensing fees:
$1,000 - Importer
$2,000 - Wholesaler
$2,000 - Manufacture

License renewals

The license is valid for one year from date of issue and expires on Jan. 31 of the subsequent year. Application period from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31 of the current year. The Director shall grant or deny the license within ninety days of receipt of the application.
