Starting October 1: Some business services are now subject to retail sales tax, as required by state law, ESSB 5814. When you buy these services, vendors should add sales tax to your bill. Cigarette Ignition Propensity Fire Safe Cigarette Certificate

Purpose

To certify that a cigarette variety has been tested and meets the fire safety standard as having reduced ignition propensity. Applies to cigarette manufacturers selling cigarette brands in Washington State.

How to submit

Application submitted with fees on forms provided by the State Fire Marshal Office.

Processing time

No more than 10 business days.

Fees

$250 - Each cigarette style being certified (three-year certification)

License renewals

Valid for three years.
