Reseller permit verification service

This free service allows you to submit and receive verification of your customers’ reseller permit information.

How does it work?

You create and upload an electronic file with your customers’ reseller permit information via a secure web page. This service will provide results that contain:

  1. The original data with reseller permit information for all records found.
  2. Errors where information was entered incorrectly. An explanation of the error is included.

The results can be exported to an Excel file (.xlsx) by clicking the Export Results button.

How to create your file

Each record must have three fields:

  • Excise tax account ID
  • Reseller permit number
  • Unique ID - This field is for your use, for example: your customer name, your customer number, sequence number.

All fields, even if left blank are separated by a comma or tab. Please enter a space for blank fields.

Each record must include either:

  • Excise tax account ID
  • Reseller permit number
  • Or both

Your file must be saved in one of the following formats:

  • Comma separated values (.csv) example: 502502502,A12345678,123456
  • Tab delimited (.txt) example: 501501501 A12345678 123456|
Field Name Description Format
1. Excise tax account ID Businesses unique ID (example: 501501501) numeric
2. Reseller permit number Reseller permit number given to business (example:A12345678) alpha/numeric
3. Unique ID Field for your use, for example: your customer name, your customer number, sequence number. alpha/numeric

How to save your information in the correct format before submitting

Comma separated values:

  • Click FILE
  • Choose SAVE AS
  • In the SAVE AS TYPE drop-down box, select CSV (*.csv)
  • Click the SAVE button

Tab delimited:

  • Click FILE
  • Choose SAVE AS
  • In the SAVE AS TYPE drop-down box, select Text (*.txt)
  • Click the SAVE button

How to use this information

Use the Results File information to verify that your records:

  • Have the correct customer and reseller permit information
  • Have a correct reseller permit expiration date
  • Show the customer had a valid reseller permit at the time of the sale

Use the Error File to identify those entries with incorrect or incomplete information. You may correct your information and resubmit them for verification.

You should verify your customer reseller permit information at least once each calendar year, per 82.04.470

We encourage you to keep these downloaded files for your future reference and in the event you are audited.
