Requesting confidential tax or licensing information

The Department of Revenue may share certain public records upon request. However, it cannot disclose confidential tax or licensing information without the taxpayer’s written consent, unless statutory authority allows it.

Confidential tax information for a specific taxpayer or business

You can authorize the Department of Revenue to share your confidential tax information with a third party by submitting a completed Confidential Tax Information Authorization form (PDF).

Confidential licensing information for your business

You can authorize the Department of Revenue to share your confidential licensing information with a third party by using the Confidential Licensing Information Authorization (PDF).

Public records requests

Many public records are available on the department’s website. For more information, see our webpages regarding public records and tax preference transparency.

You may also make a Public Records Request for available Department of Revenue records. In your request, please identify and describe in detail the records you are requesting. The following must be included in your request:

  • Subject matter.
  • Date range.
  • Types of records requested.
  • Appropriate divisions or programs.
