Sales tax now applies to some services

Starting October 1: Some business services are now subject to retail sales tax, as required by state law, ESSB 5814. When you buy these services, vendors should add sales tax to your bill. Union Gap adds a bridge to state’s combined licensing solution

OLYMPIA, Wash. – May 7, 2020 – Union Gap today joins Yakima and a dozen of its valley neighbors as a partner in the state Department of Revenue’s Business Licensing Service.

The city of 6,000 residents just south of Yakima on Interstate 82 is now connected to the state’s signature combined licensing solution that works for more than 130 other Washington communities.

Another 20 communities will join this year, including the nearby towns of Harrah, Naches, and Tieton.
