Reseller permit

Your business

In order to manage your reseller permit, you must:

  • Have an excise tax account.
  • Be an administrator on the excise tax account.
Print a copy of your reseller permit
 

You must be a tax account administrator to print a reseller permit.

  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and Password and click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click the Print your reseller permit link in the Other services section.
  4. The active Reseller Permit is listed under the Permits and Applications heading. Click the Print Permit link. If the business name shown on the Reseller Permit needs to be changed, update your Doing Business As (DBA) Name by following the steps here.
  5. A new browser will open and display the reseller permit. Use the browser menu to print or download a .PDF file of the reseller permit.
Apply for or renew a reseller permit
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and Password and click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click Get Started.
  4. In the Excise Tax Account panel, click the Apply for/view a Reseller Permit link.
  5. Click the Apply for Reseller Permit button.
  6. Answer the questions and complete the required fields, then click Submit.
  7. On the Confirmation page, click Ok.
Appeal a reseller permit denial
 

You have two options for appealing a Reseller Permit denial:

  • In writing
  • Online

In writing
The Department of Revenue’s denial letter includes the reason for your denial as well as instructions for appealing the decision. The appeal must be filed within 21 days of the date of the letter. A Reseller Permit Appeal Petition form is available at dor.wa.gov/resellerpermit or by calling 360-705-6705.

Online

  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and password, and click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click Get Started.
  4. In the Excise Tax Account panel, click the Apply for/view a Reseller Permit link.
  5. In the row for the denied application, click the Appeal link.
  6. Select the reason button corresponding to the reason for your appeal.
  7. Enter your reason for believing the denial decision is incorrect in the text box. If you have any supporting documentation, attach the file.
  8. Click the button corresponding to the person completing the appeal.
  • If you are the owner, corporate officer or partner of the business, click the declaration box and enter required information.
  • If you are an authorized representative for the business, click the declaration box and enter required information.
  1. Click the Submit button.

Another business

Check the status of a reseller permit for another business
 

If you have the reseller permit number:

  1. From the Department of Revenue Home page (dor.wa.gov), in the I Want To… box, click Look up a business.
  2. On the Business Lookup page, click the Reseller Permit button.
  3. Enter the Reseller Permit number in the appropriate field.
  4. Click the Search button.
  5. Check the I’m not a robot box. You may be asked to select a series of images and click Verify.
  6. The results of your search will display. Click the business name in the search results to view tax information including reseller permit status.

Check the status by business name:

  1. From the Department of Revenue Home page (dor.wa.gov), in the I Want To… box, click Look up a business.
  2. On the Business Lookup page displays, click the Tax Account button.
  3. Enter the business name in the Business name field.
  4. Click the Search button.
  5. Check the I’m not a robot box. You may be asked to select a series of images and click Verify.
  6. The results of your search will display. Click the business name link in the search results to view tax information including reseller permit status.
