X-ray Facility and Devices

Any businesses that have a facility with any of the x-ray tube types listed below, including dental or medical offices, hospitals, and veterinary, educational, security, research, industrial, or correctional facilities is required to have an X-ray Facility and Devices endorsement.

X-ray facility

Radiation Machine Facility Registration - $195

A Department of Health x-ray facility endorsement is required for business locations that have a facility with various x-ray tube types, including dental or medical offices; hospitals; and veterinary, educational, security, research, industrial, or correctional facilities.

Analytical – Cabinet XRF

An enclosed benchtop unit that is designed to measure the composition of materials through x-ray fluorescence.

Analytical – Handheld XRF

A handheld unit that is designed to measure the composition of materials through x-ray fluorescence.

Analytical – X-Ray Diffraction

An x-ray machine which targets crystallin structures in material to determine the crystal structure or composition of an unknown sample.

Bone Densitometer – Body Composition Scanner

A machine that is specifically designed to measure body composition, including but not limited too fat, muscle, etc.

Bone Densitometer – Standard

A machine that produces a thin, pencil beam of x-rays that are specifically designed to measure the density of bones in the body.

Computed Tomography – Attenuation Correction (Pet/Sect)

A permanently mounted computed tomography machine that is attached to either a PET or SPECT scanner and is used ONLY to gather attenuation data for the use of attenuation correction in the PET or SPECT scanner.

Computed Tomography – Diagnostic

A permanently mounted computed tomography machine that is used in the diagnoses or treatment of humans in general healthcare. It can be a standalone unit, or it can be attached to a PET or SPECT scanner if it is used for more than just attenuation correction.

Computed Tomography – Educational

Any computed tomography tube type intended for teaching proper position and technique that WILL NOT be used on humans. This tube type can also be selected for medical examiners or coroners.

Computed Tomography – Mobile

A computed tomography machine that is mounted inside of a trailer that is designed to be taken to driven from facility to facility and parked. The use should be similar to diagnostic computed tomography units.

Computed Tomography – Portable

A computed tomography machine that is mounted on wheels and can be taken from room to room for human patients who are non-ambulatory.
