Renew and print

Renew a business license
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and Password, then click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click the Get Started button. If you have access to more than one business, either click the name of the business requiring the renewal and continue to step 4, or, if you want to see all renewals for all businesses, click the Action Items tab, and select Renewal from the Filters field. Then, click the Renew Business License link and continue to step 5. 
  4. On the Business License panel, click the Renew Business License link, or, to see all renewals for all accounts, click the Action Items tab. Then, click the Renew Business License link. 
  5. Review the information and answer the questions on the License Renewal page.
    • If you need to update your SAW profile email address, select Yes and update your SAW profile once your renewal is submitted.
    • If your mailing or location address has changed, select Yes and follow the instructions to update your business addresses before you renew your business license. After your address has been updated, select No.
    • If you changed your ownership type, select Yes.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Review the information on the Business Contact page. If required information is missing, you will see a warning message. If applicable, update the required fields, and then click Next.
  8. If you have state endorsements to renew, complete all requested information for each endorsement and click Next to continue.
  9. If applicable, on the City License Endorsement page, review the information and complete the required fields.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Review the Trade Names, you can add or cancel names here, and then click Next.
  12. On the Endorsement/Fee Overview page, review the fees.
    • If you have not renewed late in the last 24 months you qualify for the late penalty fee waiver. To request the late penalty fee waiver, select Yes. This waiver only applies to the Late Renewal Penalty on endorsements with an expiration date of July 31, 2023 or later.
    • If you have renewed late in the last 24 months you do not qualify for the late penalty fee waiver.
    • If you see a message stating you may qualify learn more about the late penalty fee waiver to determine if you qualify and how to request a penalty refund after you submit the renewal.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Select the payment type you wish to use and follow the prompts. More information on payment options.
    • Bank Account (ACH debit) will deduct the payment from the bank account you select on the next page.
    • Credit or Debit Card will charge the card you provide on the next page. A 2.69% processing fee is charged by a third party vendor for this service. Enter your email address. Click the Enter Card Information button to be redirected to a third party vendor to complete the transaction.
  15. Review the information on the Summary page, then click Submit.
  16. On the Confirmation page, click OK.
Print a business license
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and Password, then click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click the Get Started button. If you have access to more than one business, click the name of the business whose Business License you want to print.
  4. In the Business License panel, click the Print Business License link. Your Business License will appear in a new window. You can print from your web browser. Close the page to return to My DOR. If you have multiple Business License Accounts, click the View Accounts link, then click the link of the applicable Business License Account to see the Business License panel.

Print a receipt for a renewal
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and Password, then click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click the Get Started button.
  4. On the account Summary page, click the More Options tab.
  5. In the Drafts and Submissions section, click View, Edit, or Print Drafts or Submissions.
  6. Click the Title link for the License Renewal submission.
  • If your renewal has been submitted, but not processed, a link will be located under the Pending tab. If your renewal has been processed, the link will be located under the Processed tab.
  1. Click the Print link.
  2. Your business license renewal receipt will appear in a new window. You can print from your web browser. Close the page to return to My DOR.

Updates

Hire employees or add optional coverage for owners
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and Password, then click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click the Get Started button.
  4. On the Business License panel, click Hire Employees/Minors or Add Optional Coverage.
  5. The Online Business License Application opens. If you are hiring employees, select the Hire employees, including minors within 90 days checkbox. Then click Next.
  6. Enter the Business phone number and email address, then click Next.
  7. If you would like language assistance with any follow-up communications from other Washington State agencies, answer Yes, and select your language.
  8. Click Next to continue.
  9. Review the information on the Owners & Officers page, and then click Next.
  10. If you selected Add optional coverage for owners, review the selections on the Optional Coverage page, and then click Next.
  11. If you did NOT select Hire employees, including minors within 90 days, continue to Step 17. Otherwise, complete the required fields on the Hire Employees page, and then click Next.
  12. Indicate if you are going to hire minors. If yes, complete the required fields.
  13. Click Next to continue.
  14. Indicate if this is an out-of-state business with no Washington location or representatives. If yes, complete the required fields.
  15. Click Next to continue.
  16. Use the selector button to choose Yes or No on the Contractor Information page, and then click Next.
  17. Review the Endorsement/Fee Overview and then click Next.
  18. Select the payment type you wish to use and follow the prompts. More information on payment options.

Update owner or officer (governing people)
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and Password, then click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click the Get Started button. If you have access to more than one business, click the name of the business you want update
  4. In the Business License Account panel, click the Other Updates link. If you have multiple Business License Accounts, click the View Accounts link, then click the link of the applicable Business License Account to see the Business License Account panel.
  5. In the Names and Addresses section, click the Update Governing People link.
  6. Click the Update Governing People link, on the right of the page.
  • To add a new governing person click the +Add a Governing Person link, complete the required fields, and click Add.
  • To update a current governing person’s information, click the name of the governing person and update the necessary fields and click OK.
  • To remove a governing person, click the Delete link next to their name.
  1. Click Next.
  2. Review the information and click Submit.
  3. On the Confirmation page, click OK.
Update business license contact information
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Log in by entering your SAW User ID and Password, then click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click Get Started. If you have access to more than one business, click the name of the business you want to update.
  4. From the Summary tab, click the More Options tab.
  5. Within the Your Account section, click the View or Update Contacts link. If needed, filter by Account Type.
  6. Click Edit to review or update the contact information for the account.
  7. Review and update the contact information, and then click Submit. Please note, the changes made only update the account selected. Your Secure Access Washington (SAW) profile is not updated by this change.
  8. On the Confirmation page, click OK.
Add a city license or state endorsement
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Enter your SAW User ID and Password, then click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click the Get Started button. If you have access to more than one business, click the name of the business you want update.
  4. In the Business License panel, click the View/Add Endorsements link.
  5. Click the Add Endorsements link.
  6. The Online Business License Application opens and the Add state endorsements and the Add city or county endorsements options are selected. Review and make any necessary edits, then click Next.
  7. Enter the Business phone number and email address.
  8. Click Next to continue.
  9. If you would like language assistance with any follow-up communications from other Washington State agencies, answer Yes, and select your language.
  10. If asked, indicate if you will be selling lottery tickets by selecting Yes or No.
  11. Click Next.
  12. On the City and County page, indicate if you need to add additional city licenses by selecting Yes or No. Then click Next. If you selected No, continue to step 17.
  13. Answer the required questions and click Next.
  14. Check each city where you will be doing business. If a city is not listed, you will need to follow up with them directly. Then click Next.
  15. For each city, answer the requested information including first date of business, estimated gross revenue, and number of employees. Then click Next.
  16. Indicate if the business is applying for a nonprofit city license. If yes complete the required fields. Then click Next.
  17. Select the appropriate state endorsement(s) on the Endorsement Selection page, then click Next.
  18. For each endorsement, answer the requested information and click Next.
  19. On the Endorsement/Fee Overview page, review the fees and click Next.
  20. Select the payment type you wish to use and follow the prompts. More information on payment options.

Add a new location
 
  1. On dor.wa.gov click the Log in button.
  2. Log in by entering your SAW User ID and Password and then, click Log in to My DOR. If asked, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication challenge to verify your identity.
  3. On the My DOR Services page, click Get Started.
  4. On the account Summary page, click the More Options tab.
  5. In the Licensing Services section, click the Apply for a Business License link.
  6. To add a location to an existing business, select I want to update a business that I have access to., and then select the business.
  • If the business does not appear in the list, select I want to enter the Unified Business Identifier (UBI) of the business I want to update., and then enter the UBI number in the applicable field. *When entering a UBI: If you don’t have permission to access the account, you will be asked to request access or add access before adding the new location.
  • If you are starting a new business, select I want to start a business in WA State. and follow the Instructions for completing the application. If the business has already been assigned a UBI, enter it in the Enter the UBI field. *When entering a UBI: If you don’t have permission to access the account, you will be asked to request access or add access before completing the application.

  1. Click Next.
  2. Select the option to Open a new physical location, or if you are only traveling to another city select the account below and follow the prompts.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Review the required information and click Confirm to begin the Online Business License Application. Instructions for completing the application.
